About the role

Alternative Paths Training School (APTS®) is searching for a Behavior Specialist to support special needs students. Our vision is to help every individual who comes our way in need of intervention—academically, behaviorally, emotionally, or otherwise—successfully reintegrate into mainstream society and perform to their highest potential.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct functional behavioral assessments, records reviews, and clinical behavioral trials to develop behavior intervention plans.
  • Design data collection instruments; summarize and analyze behavioral data independently and with the assistance of Data Analysts.
  • Implement and monitor students’ behavior intervention plans, including direct work with students during routine and crisis conditions.
  • Collaborate with educational department members (e.g., teachers, Educational Supervisor) to devise behavior goals for IEPs, complete progress reports, exit summaries, and transition reports, and participate in IEP meetings.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, physicians, LEAs, related service providers, and other professionals to ensure continuity of services and care for all students on the behavior analyst’s caseload.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing training for relevant staff in individualized data collection methods and behavior plan implementation for each student.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavior Analysis, Education, Human Services, or a related field from an accredited college or university (required).
  • Eligible to sit for the BCBA/BCaBA exam within 9 months of employment (preferred). Testing eligibility can be waived if currently enrolled in a Master’s-level program in Behavior Analysis, Education, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with students with developmental and/or emotional disabilities (preferred).

$58,000 per year.
