About the role

The Behavior Consultant works in collaboration with other members of the treatment team, designing and directing the implementation of a behavior intervention plan tailored to each individual and their family needs and daily activities.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies behavioral goals and intervention techniques, recommending behavioral change methods.
  • Provides staff training and designs data collection formats.
  • Serves as a resource to staff, parents, and providers.
  • Attends quarterly and annual meetings related to consumer needs.
  • Collaborates with support staff to assess skill areas and behavior challenges; conducts Functional Analysis Assessments.
  • Develops and implements effective Behavioral Intervention Plans, including data collection and program development.
  • Maintains regular communication and on-site support to individuals and staff.
  • Serves as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Attends Quarterly, Annual, and Emergency meetings as necessary.
  • Provides consultation to providers, families, and the community regarding behavior management techniques.
  • Communicates with staff, administrators, outside agencies, and parents to coordinate activities, exchange information, and resolve issues.
  • Provides input for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Individual Behavior Intervention Plan.
  • Reviews data collection, prepares reports, and recommends changes as needed.
  • Maintains all required documentation and needed data.
  • Maintains accurate time/billing records and submits them as supervisor requests.
  • Maintains open communication with funding sources, other service providers, state/federal agencies, families/care providers, and significant others.
  • Affirms the satisfaction of consumers and their families with service providers.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in clinical psychology, school psychology, or another applied health service area of psychology; Special Education; Social Work or Counseling required.
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist; licensed clinical social worker or licensed mental health counselor.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities desired.
  • Demonstration of excellent oral and written skills.
  • Must be able to keep accurate documentation.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and effective transportation.
