About the role
The Senior Youth Specialist/Teacher for the Before & After School Enrichment program contributes to the Y's mission by developing and delivering fun and healthy before and after school programming for school-aged children. This role aims to create an enrichment-based environment through teaching and leading, resulting in happy children.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver fun and healthy before and after school programming for school-aged children.
- Create an enrichment-based environment through teaching and leading.
- Contribute to the Y movement by providing enrichment activities to youth and peace of mind to their parents and guardians.
- Work with children, parents/guardians, members, school administration, and other Y associates.
- Provide supervision and guidance to younger staff members.
Requirements
- A high school diploma, certificate of high school equivalence, or completed courses for credit from a college or university.
- 45 training hours in School Age Curriculum or 1800 hours of experience working with school age children.
- 45 training hours in Growth and Development.
- A minimum of 400 hours of supervisory experience in a childcare, recreational, or educational setting, or completed one year of college.
- Office of Child Care licensing requirements including ADA, Health and Safety, and communication.
- The ability to be flexible and work at multiple locations.
Qualifications
- An interest in the well-being of school age children.
- Enthusiasm, patience, good humor, and good judgment.
- The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, school administration, and other Y associates.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in a childcare, recreational, or educational setting.
- Completion of the Y's 45-hour training in School Age Curriculum or 1800 hours of experience working with school age children.
- Completion of the Y's 45-hour training in Growth and Development.
- Completion of the Y's 400-hour supervisory experience in a childcare, recreational, or educational setting, or completion of one year of college.
- Office of Child Care licensing requirements including ADA, Health and Safety, and communication.
- The ability to be flexible and work at multiple locations.
