Before/After School Instructors

About the role

Position available for Fairfax County School Year 2025-2026. Staff will be responsible for supervising children at a before and after school program at the Stacey C. Sherwood Community Center, 3740 Blenheim Boulevard, Fairfax VA 22030. Position reports directly to the Recreation Manager of the Sherwood Center. Position is considered temporary and will not be able to work more than twelve months consecutively.

Responsibilities

• Must be at least 16 years of age and in charge of supervising a group of children.
• Work well with other instructors to plan and implement daily activities for the children.
• Start the day by picking up the children at Daniels Run Elementary School and walking them across the street to the Sherwood Center.
• Supervise a group of children with daily routines including games, activities, homework and teambuilding.
• Deal directly with disciplining children and talking with parents at pick-up.
• Be active and participate in any and all activities with the children.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED preferred.
• At least 16 years of age.
• Able to deal courteously with the children and families.
• Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Able to work unsupervised.

Supplemental Information

Mondays – Fridays, 7:15am-9:15am and/or 3:15pm -6:15pm (must be available at least three shifts a week). No benefits.
