Job Overview

As a Cosmetic Sales Flex Colleague (Beauty Advisor Flex) you are the trusted expert customers turn to for all things beauty. You create personalized, inspiring shopping experiences that build confidence and drive sales through education, product demonstrations, makeup application, and skincare recommendations. You also grow and manage a loyal client base through follow‑up, virtual outreach, and personalized service.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly, make eye contact, and engage in personal conversations to build relationships.
• Provide expert beauty advice, conduct product demonstrations, and offer tailored consultations, including makeup application and skincare recommendations.
• Stay current on beauty trends, new arrivals, and promotions to introduce customers to relevant products.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable sales floor and fitting rooms; recover merchandise, update signs and pricing, and support merchandise moves.
• Promote the Macy’s Loyalty program, share its benefits, and ensure customers leave with a sincere thank‑you.
• Use point‑of‑sale technology and digital tools to process transactions efficiently.
• Acquire new customers by opening credit accounts and sharing loyalty benefits.
• Drive sales and client loyalty through organized displays, clienteling tools, sales events, and ongoing training.
• Meet and exceed daily sales goals while delivering exceptional service.
• Support teammates with honesty, care, and collaboration to improve overall store performance.

Requirements

• Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays with reliable attendance and punctuality.
• At least 1 year of customer service or sales experience.
• Ability to understand and communicate effectively with customers, co‑workers, and supervisors.
• Read and comprehend employment policies and safety rules/procedures in English.
• Deliver personalized beauty experiences by uncovering customer needs, demonstrating product application, and educating on product benefits.
• Proficiency with point‑of‑sale technology and digital tools.

Physical Requirements

• Standing for at least two consecutive hours.
• Lifting at least 25 lb., stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
• Reaching above eye level; frequent talking, moving, and reaching with arms and hands.
• Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Frequent use of computers, handheld equipment, and cash registers.

Schedule

Flex Team Colleagues must work a minimum of 42 hours per quarter during the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd fiscal quarters (February – April, May – July, August – October). During the 4th fiscal quarter (November – January) the minimum is 60 hours. Weekend shifts may be required, and the minimum number of hours is subject to change.
