Beautician
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Beautician to provide professional beauty and grooming services tailored to the unique needs of elderly individuals, helping to boost their self-esteem, comfort, and overall well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide hair care services including haircuts, shampooing, styling, coloring, and perming as appropriate for elderly clients.
- Offer additional grooming services such as manicures, basic skin care, and facial grooming (if licensed to do so).
- Create a warm, safe, and respectful environment for residents during appointments.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area in compliance with state and facility guidelines.
- Manage appointment schedules in coordination with nursing and activity staff.
- Monitor and report any changes in resident’s scalp, skin, or general health to nursing staff.
- Ensure proper sanitation of tools and equipment after each use.
- Maintain inventory of beauty supplies and notify management when restocking is needed.
- Communicate effectively and patiently with residents, some of whom may have physical or cognitive limitations.
Requirements
- Valid and current Cosmetology License in the state of Virginia.
- Previous experience working with elderly or disabled individuals preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, and a caring demeanor.
- Ability to lift light objects and assist residents safely as needed.
- Familiarity with infection control and sanitation standards.
- CPR/First Aid certification (preferred but not required).
Work Environment
Work will be performed primarily indoors at one of our long-term healthcare facilities, throughout all areas, including in resident rooms, and on carpeted and/or tiled floors. Work will be routinely performed around other co-workers, healthcare staff, residents, and guests.
Due to the nature of the facility’s business, you may be exposed to occasional slippery floors, objects on floors, chemicals, sharp objects, hazardous materials and waste (including human), bloodborne pathogens, and communicable diseases, as well as high-stress medical and/or life-threatening situations.
