What We Do

SMS group is an industrial equipment manufacturer for the steel industry. We design, build, and service equipment and steel plants across the globe with a strong technical services/machine shop network in North America.

About the Role

The right candidate will:

  • Ability to operate a chock washer
  • Ability to run jib and overhead cranes
  • Ability to use micrometers, depth gauges, feeler gauges, and PI tape
  • Ability to operate chock flipper
  • Ability to identify the different type of chocks and locations
  • Ability to understand the chock ID system
  • Ability to maintain housekeeping in Area Of Responsibility(A.O.R)
  • Ability to understand and repair different types of lubrication systems(REBS, Morgoil)
  • Ability to communicate with vendors for replacement parts
  • Ability to create/manage a chock (PM) preventive maintenance program with specific tasks needed to keep the machinery operational.
  • Ability to train new technicians

Skills

  • Ability to read prints and interpret the correct tolerances to be set
  • Ability to fill out inspection paperwork or computer entry into RMS
  • Ability to communicate with vendors for replacement parts
  • Ability to create/manage a chock (PM) preventive maintenance program with specific tasks needed to keep the machinery operational.
  • Ability to train new technicians

Schedule

Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday 6 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
