About the role
The position is for a Spanish or Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) speaking Elementary School Counselor. The role involves providing services to students at grades K-5, delivering structured lessons, coordinating and providing large-group, classroom, small-group, and individual ongoing systemic activities, and providing short-term individual counseling.
Responsibilities
Direct Services: Deliver district and locally determined structured lessons to help students attain desired competencies in academic, career, and personal/social domains; Appraise and advise students using strengths, learning, and career inventories; Provide responsive services including short-term individual counseling, small-group settings, and crisis response; Refer to outside services as appropriate.
Indirect Services: Consult with and collaborate on IEP, 504, or Student Intervention meetings; Provide outside community, mental health, or other resource options to students, families, or those who support students.
Comprehensive Program Planning and Other Duties: Design and implement a comprehensive school counseling program incorporating district requirements and data-driven decision-making; Evaluate programs outcomes annually; Provide annual results for services and interventions supporting District Strategic goals.
Requirements
Master’s degree in School Counseling or equivalent coursework; a Master’s of education degree in School Counseling will substitute for the degree requirement if all the coursework requirements for a Master's in School Counseling have been met.
Experience with a comprehensive school counseling program and familiarity with the American School Counselor Association Framework for School Counseling Programs preferred.
Qualifications
Valid ESA School Counselor Certificate by position start date.
