About the role
Volunteers provide companionship to hospice patients in their homes or at senior living facilities in the Lapeer area.
Responsibilities
- Visit patients in their homes or at senior living facilities on weekdays and weekends during daytime hours.
- Provide companionship, listen, and offer support to patients and their families.
- Ensure patients feel valued and cared for through regular visits.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Valid driver's license.
- Background check required.
- Attend orientation provided by Lapeer-based volunteer coordinators.
Qualifications
- Willingness to provide emotional support to patients and their families.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with patients and their families.
- Flexibility to schedule visits around patient availability.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Empathy and patience.
- Comfortable visiting patients in various settings.
