About the role

The BD Engineering Development Program (EDP) is a three-year rotational program for new engineering graduates. Participants rotate through three different BD businesses across the U.S., working on cross-functional teams to design, develop, and manufacture medical devices. After completing the program, EDPs transition into full-time R&D positions based on their interests and business needs.

As an EDP, you will work under the supervision of an R&D manager to develop and maintain medical technology, ensuring compliance with medical device regulations and quality processes. You will collaborate with stakeholders, scientists, and teams across quality, regulatory, and marketing to address patient and healthcare provider needs. Responsibilities include participating in design reviews, device testing, and providing regular status updates.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test medical devices while adhering to medical device regulations and quality processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analysts, scientists, quality, regulatory, and marketing groups, to understand and address healthcare needs.
  • Participate in design reviews and device testing.
  • Provide regular status updates on project progress.
  • Work under the supervision of an R&D manager to develop and maintain medical technology.
  • Engage in technical problem-solving and innovation to support BD’s product development goals.

Requirements

  • New engineering graduate with a BS or MS in Mechanical, Biomedical (Bioengineering), Materials, Electrical, Chemical, or a related discipline.
  • Expected graduation date between August 2026 and June 2027.
  • Excellent academic record.
  • Relevant internship or co-op experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to relocate annually during the three-year program.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction as to duration.

  • Demonstrated comprehension of basic comparative statistics.

Schedule

Most roles require a minimum of 4 days of in-office presence per week to foster collaboration, creativity, and innovation. Remote or field-based positions may have different arrangements, as specified in the job posting.

Pay
