About the role

We are looking for a passionate Chapter Specialist to join our team and make a difference. As a Chapter Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in working closely with chapters in Northern Virginia to enhance their programming, engagement, and overall impact for Jewish teens.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with teens (grades 8-12) to create impactful, fun, and dynamic programming.
  • Coach teens on recruitment and retention strategies that build and grow their chapters to exceed membership and engagement goals.
  • Support teens in building and executing chapter calendars, ensuring a consistent and sustainable programming cadence.
  • Be present at chapter events and meetings, providing guidance, supervision, and mentorship as the adult in the room.
  • Ensure chapter participation in region-wide initiatives (e.g. Kickoffs, RLTI, and convention).
  • Ensure chapter participation in organization-wide initiatives (e.g., BBYO Summer Programs, ILN, and IC).
  • Track and analyze chapter data, including attendance, engagement, and membership trends, to inform strategy.
  • Build relationships and maintain communication with members, parents, and community partners.
  • Participate as a member of the regional team to bring innovative ideas and best practices to the community.
  • Participate in monthly professional development with fellow Chapter Specialists.
  • Staff our Regional Convention December 18-20, 2026 in College Park, MD.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 3 years removed from high school.
  • Role has in-person responsibilities, candidate must live within or close to Northern Virginia.
  • Active participation at local chapter programs is required, chapters program on average 2-4x a month.
  • Ability to transport self to and from chapter or regional events.
  • The number of hours worked per week is flexible, but at minimum 5 hours per week.
  • A creative and responsible self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration with teens.
  • A background in BBYO or similar youth/Jewish organization is preferred but not required.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without holding a visa or sponsorship.

Pay and Schedule

Pay: $18.00 per hour. Time Commitment: 5-10 hours a week (will vary), some nights and weekends required. When: Mid August – Early June. Location: Northern Virginia.
