Responsibilities

  • Assist FAME engineers and external engineering teams with deep dive and rapid response triage failure analysis investigations across all Rivian battery platforms/programs.
  • Perform detailed forensic teardowns of suspect battery packs, modules, and cells to various levels to safely remove failure evidence for investigations.
  • Operate a variety of laboratory equipment including, but not limited to (prior hands-on experience highly desired, but training will be provided as needed): Macro photography, Optical microscopy, Basic electrical measurement tools such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, LCR meters, etc., Sample x-sectioning equipment (section, grind, polish, and etch), Basic machine shop tools such as band saw, drill press, etc.
  • Produce clear and concise reports to summarize data collected and be able to clearly present this to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Support manufacturing team equipment and process capability analysis.
  • Execute product and process validation / inspection plans.
  • Responsible to participate in quality related continuous improvement (Kaizen) projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve the quality culture within responsible area.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with high voltage battery systems is required.
  • Strong demonstrable experience with electrical testing and associated equipment including power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • 3+ years of laboratory or quality experience (or) An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Problem solving experience.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, email – ability to manage files and records effectively.
  • Destructive or non-destructive inspection or testing experience.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented in documentation and reporting. Familiar with implementing 5S principles.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Work effectively both independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Willing to maintain relationships with external engineering partners.
  • Able to stand for 8-12 hours per day.

Pay

The hourly pay for this role is $29.67 - $32.96 per hour for Illinois based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
