Batcher - 3rd Shift

Starting hourly rate: $23.62/hr. 3rd shift receives a $0.45/hr shift differential. Medical insurance offered through Local Union 152.

About the role

The Batcher reports to the Processing Manager at our Seabrook, New Jersey location. This individual ensures proper blends of concentrates according to customer specifications, with responsibility for food safety and quality, including CQP and CCP monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow blending guidelines on formula sheets to meet company and customer specifications
• Match color, flavor, and other quality attributes of juice to control standards
• Weigh and pump ingredients for batching; open drums and containers for blending
• Perform quality checks (brix, acid, pH, sensory, color) before releasing batches; adjust batches to meet specifications
• Use a computer touch screen to fill batch tanks with bulk ingredients
• Research inventory needs and make batch corrections using computers
• Use hand-held scanners to batch formulas
• Resolve all errors related to batches
• Perform sanitation of tanks and rooms; move empty drums/totes/bins for disposal or storage
• Conduct taste tests as needed (up to a couple of ounces per test)
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Forklift certification
• Six months of manufacturing experience
• Proficiency in mathematics

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a production setting.

• Frequent: Talking, hearing, standing, walking, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, crouching; pushing/pulling; lifting up to 50 pounds; using hands/fingers to operate machinery/equipment. Exposure to wet/humid conditions and seasonal temperature fluctuations.
• Occasional: Squatting, kneeling, reaching above/at shoulder height; wearing a dust mask; performing confined entry using LOTO program. Exposure to toxic/corrosive chemicals.
• Vision: Close, distance, color, and peripheral vision (with or without correction). Ability to detect obstacles/dangers in a fast-paced production environment with high-speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment.
• Hearing: Normal audio range (with or without correction). Exposure to noise from pumps, machinery, forklift traffic, bottle lines, and exhaust fans.
