About the Role
The incumbent will be responsible for directing, or assisting to direct, a competitive sport program and meeting the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) requirements for the program. The coach is both a mentor and positive role model for all students with which they interact.
Responsibilities
- Develop young athletes while building a strong, positive, and competitive team culture that includes good sportsmanship and excellence in the classroom.
- Mentor, train, and educate athletes in the sport and the necessary skills and techniques related to the game.
- Foster excellence and a winning culture both on and off the court or field.
- Train and educate student athletes in safety and injury prevention.
- Maintain knowledge of UHSAA requirements and regulations.
- Continue a program with strong traditions and work effectively with an involved community.
Requirements
- Cleared background check through Granite School District (cost covered by the district).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Utah Concussion Training certification through National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).
Skills
- Ability to build positive working relationships with students, school staff, administration, parents, and the community.
- Skill in developing young athletes and fostering a competitive team culture.
- Knowledge of UHSAA requirements and regulations.
