Base Communicator Full-time Nights

About the Role

Performs dispatching activities related to the Transportation Call Center Department. Coordinates transportation scheduling, maintains scheduling, and communicates with Transport Companies. Facilitates communication with the transportation coordinator, nursing supervisor, and other personnel to ensure orderly transfer of patients from other facilities to Virtua hospitals. Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate transportation scheduling for Virtua facilities.
• Maintain communication with transport companies and internal teams.
• Facilitate transportation to and from Virtua facilities.
• Ensure safe and timely transfer of patients, including frail or elderly individuals with special mobility needs.
• Problem-solve and prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment.
• Remain calm and responsive during emergencies.
• Generate accurate records using computer systems.

Requirements

• High School graduate or GED.
• Two to four years of relevant experience.
• EMT or Dispatcher license/certification preferred.
• Driver or dispatch experience.
• Knowledge of transporting frail or elderly populations with special mobility needs and safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Computer literacy for record-keeping and scheduling.

Skills

• Strong verbal communication and articulation of details, instructions, and emergency procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, family members, and coworkers.
• Experience with transportation software and scheduling programs preferred.

Pay

$21.85 - $32.83 hourly.
