BAS Mgr. Mechanical Services
Job Summary
This position manages the campus Building Automation System (BAS) to efficiently run HVAC equipment. Responsibilities include programming and implementing changes, diagnosing and troubleshooting BAS and mechanical equipment, scheduling maintenance, and ensuring compliance with air permit and UST/AST regulations.
About the Role
The position involves working as part of a team, including off-shift hours and emergency response situations. It supports voluntary curtailment programs and conservation efforts through BAS management.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and program the University's Building Automation Systems
- Validate hardware and project installations meet design requirements
- Diagnose and troubleshoot communication problems, software, and hardware issues of BAS and mechanical equipment
- Participate in field quality control or safety audits and review analysis and results
- Schedule regular preventative maintenance with a computerized maintenance management system
- Perform work in a cost-effective and safe manner following applicable safety and university standards
- Identify, locate, procure, and maintain an appropriate on-site inventory of equipment, replacement parts, and tools
- Track data related to fuel usage, equipment run time, upgrades, and replacements to support air permit submissions
- Manage compliance associated with the university’s air permit and UST/AST regulations
- Review and manage the campus building BAS systems to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of HVAC systems
- Support campus operations as an on-call manager on weekends or holidays
- Ensure continuous operation of university equipment to provide proper temperature and environmental conditions for a 24/7 research university
- Train all stationary engineers in the proper maintenance of university equipment using the proper measurement devices and tools to meet manufacturer specifications
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience with building mechanical systems and mainstream building automation software applications
- Knowledge of controls, control logic, and coding is preferred
- Knowledge of building mechanical systems and mainstream building automation software applications is preferred
Qualifications

- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade L. Compensation for this grade ranges from $62,630.00 to $93,950.00 per year.
