Broadbent Selections, founded in 1996 by Bartholomew Broadbent, specializes in importing wines from family-owned wineries with compelling stories and a passion-driven approach. Bartholomew, raised in the English wine trade through a formal apprenticeship under his father, Michael Broadbent MW (Director of Christie’s and renowned wine author), has worked globally in the wine industry, including roles at Harrod’s Wine Department, Harvey’s Fine Wine Merchants, Christie’s, Rothbury Estate (Australia), Yalumba Winery (Australia), Hennessy (Cognac), and L’Academie du Vin (Paris).

Recognized as one of the world’s foremost authorities on Port and Madeira, Bartholomew played a pivotal role in growing Port consumption in North America during the mid-1980s and reintroduced Madeira to the U.S. in 1989. His contributions to the wine world earned him a spot among Decanter Magazine’s “fifty most influential people in the wine world” (June 1997). Broadbent Selections was nominated as Importer of the Year in 2005 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine and was listed among the 100 fastest-growing companies in 1998 by Entrepreneur Magazine and Dun & Bradstreet.
