About the Role
Grand Hyatt at SFO is seeking a polished, energetic, and service-focused Bartender to join our Food & Beverage team. This position is responsible for preparing and serving beverages, creating a welcoming bar experience, maintaining a clean and organized bar area, and supporting restaurant and lounge operations in a fast-paced airport hotel environment. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about cocktails, beer, wine, spirits, and responsible alcohol service, while also bringing warmth, professionalism, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to hotel standards, recipes, and guest preferences.
- Provide attentive, friendly, and professional service to guests seated at the bar, lounge, restaurant, and other assigned service areas.
- Maintain strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, menu items, ingredients, and hotel offerings.
- Greet guests warmly, engage appropriately, and create a welcoming bar experience.
- Take guest orders, enter items accurately into the point-of-sale system, and process payments according to hotel procedures.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and respond promptly to requests, questions, and service opportunities.
- Follow responsible alcohol service procedures and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and hotel policies.
- Check identification when required and refuse service when appropriate in a professional manner.
- Prepare garnishes, juices, syrups, mixers, and other bar mise en place for service.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of the bar, bar equipment, glassware, service stations, and storage areas.
- Restock beer, wine, liquor, mixers, garnishes, glassware, napkins, straws, and other bar supplies throughout the shift.
- Monitor product levels and communicate inventory, ordering, or shortage needs to leadership.
- Follow proper cash handling, credit card, room charge, and closing procedures.
- Support food service at the bar and assist with restaurant or lounge service as needed.
- Work closely with servers, server assistants, hosts, culinary colleagues, stewarding, and food and beverage leadership.
- Assist with opening, closing, side work, cleaning, and bar breakdown duties.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times.
- Perform other food and beverage duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous bartending experience required.
- Previous hotel, restaurant, lounge, airport hotel, or high-volume food and beverage experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, beer, wine, beverage preparation, and bar service standards.
- Excellent guest service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy, cleanliness, and professionalism.
- Knowledge of responsible alcohol service standards and applicable local regulations.
- Responsible alcohol service certification required or ability to obtain required certification.
- Food handler certification required or ability to obtain required certification, if applicable.
- Ability to use point-of-sale systems, process payments, and follow cash handling procedures.
- Must be dependable, punctual, polished, and team-oriented.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and business-demand periods.
Pay
$26.23 per hour.
