Bartender - PT (Perseid)

About the role

Perseid is seeking an enthusiastic Part Time Bartender to join the team at Hotel Saint Augustine, home to 71 hotel rooms and suites, a restaurant, a small event space, an intimate lobby bar and a cloistered circular courtyard pool. The property takes inspiration from the spirit of the museum collection and of Houston itself—a duality of old world and new, a rich diversity and a forward-thinking sensibility.

As Bartender you will mix and serve drinks to patrons (directly or through wait staff), wait on bar patrons and serve items from the bar menu. A Bartender must have good communication skills, the ability to resolve conflicts and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies.

Responsibilities

• Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons
• Mix ingredients to prepare and garnish cocktails and other beverages according to Bunkhouse standards
• Serve snacks or food items to customers as requested or submit order to Kitchen
• Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment
• Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays
• Help plan and organize the menu and operations of the Cocktail Lounge or Bar
• Ensure immediate response is given to all guest comments and concerns and inform immediate supervisor of concerns
• Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
• Balance receipts and ensure payment is received from guests
• Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers’ excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons
• Order or requisition liquors and supplies
• Ask customers who become loud and unruly to leave
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area

Qualifications

Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace. Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Able to perform the essential functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting quality standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards. Must be able to sit, stand, and squat frequently.
