Bartender NA-05.

Duties

Operates a full-service bar, mixing and serving the full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Aids customers by discussing beverages available, their contents, and mixing special drinks according to customer direction.

Records sales, makes change or prepares charge slips in accordance with operating procedures.

Stocks bar. Keeps bar, utensils, equipment, and work area clean and sanitary.

Keeps records of quantities of beverages dispensed and submits requirements for re-stocking to supervisor.

Receives and checks quantity and description of stock.

Provides work direction for other employees in the bar area.

Uses tact and courtesy to deny further sales to persons whose conduct has become unruly or who appear to be intoxicated.

Requirements

• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one-year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-15j to include a medical examination.
• Incumbent is required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service, see www.sss.gov.

Qualifications

• Must meet state/local age requirements for the serving of alcoholic at the time of appointment.
• Be able to lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds.
• Possess math skills necessary to calculate bills and take inventory.
• Skills in mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
• Ability to monitor and direct the work of other bar staff.
• Work experience as a full service bartender.

Allowances and Differentials

This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system.

FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit.

Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays.

Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
