About the Role
To be an artist of drinks and create lasting connections by serving beverages and/or food to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Maintain proper and adequate daily bar setup, including requisitioning and stocking beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, and produce based on daily function projections.
- Maintain stock, cut, and store all fresh fruit, vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily to ensure product quality.
- Greet guests courteously, promote and document drink orders, and mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard recipes while practicing portion control.
- Input orders into the register, create guest checks, and maintain accountability for all beverages served, including those served by other staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and condition of the bar and guest areas throughout the shift.
- Assist guests in the lounge area when needed.
- Handle cash transactions, make change, verify charges, record transactions, and ensure proper execution of vouchers to balance all moneys.
- Lock up and store beverages, food, and equipment; deposit cash drops and secure the bank.
- Perform general cleaning tasks using standard cleaning products to adhere to health standards.
- Fulfill special guest requests and other duties as assigned, such as assisting security with disorderly guests.
- Adhere to all state, federal, and corporate liquor regulations, including laws pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of alcoholic beverages.
- Basic mathematical skills to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count the bank, prepare cash drops, and understand portion sizes.
- Basic English language writing skills for completing requisitions, balance sheets, and vouchers.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to handle knives for garnishes, glassware, bottles, ice, and drink mixing, as well as reaching overhead for stock.
- Ability to read, speak, and understand English to communicate with guests and take orders.
- Ability to remember, recite, and promote menu items.
- Ability to operate a keyboard and perform point-of-sale procedures.
- Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of bartending experience required.
- Bartending certificate required.
- TIPS certification required.
- Ability to obtain any government-required license or certificate.
- CPR certification and/or First Aid Training preferred.
