Dept: IronOaks at Sun Lakes – comprised of two interconnected neighborhoods, Ironwood and Oakwood. The community is among the most desirable retirement destinations in the Valley thanks to its mature landscape, diverse amenities, and in-town location. Pay

$12.15 per hour + gratuities

About the Role

The Bartender prepares and serves beverages and food to guests at the bar, restaurant, or patio according to company standards. This position reports to the Food & Beverage Manager.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming atmosphere and provide excellent hospitality by answering guest questions and promoting resort services.
• Maintain superior food service and quality standards to meet or exceed guest expectations.
• Greet and serve guests energetically; determine beverage preferences and make recommendations.
• Verify guest identification to ensure legal alcohol service.
• Report safety issues or customer concerns to a supervisor.
• Collaborate with staff to develop a shared vision and plan for Food & Beverage functions.
• Handle incoming food and beverage phone calls.
• Mix drinks, serve wine and beer, take orders, and prepare to-go items.
• Process cash and card transactions, ensure accuracy, and provide correct change.
• Balance the cash register and manage inventory, ordering supplies within budget.
• Maintain a clean work area, including washing glasses, equipment, and bar surfaces per safety procedures.
• Assist with Food & Beverage functions (e.g., corporate parties, weddings).
• Prepare beverages, supplies, and bar setups for banquets and events.
• Attend industry seminars to stay current on Food & Beverage trends.
• Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma preferred.
• One year of bartending experience, preferably in a resort facility.
• Must meet state and federal minimum age requirements for serving alcohol.
• Current Food Handlers Card and TIPS® Certification (Training for Intervention Procedures).
• Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, discounts).
• Strong communication skills for interacting with guests and team members.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Work Environment

Primarily indoors in a restaurant setting, but may include outdoor patios or events. Exposure to varying noise levels, weather conditions, and occasional native wildlife.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to see, speak, and hear, sometimes in noisy environments.
• Active role involving standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching for most of a shift.
• Frequent hand washing required.
• Must clearly communicate and understand speech in dynamic settings.
