About the role
Responsible for all aspects of the bar ranging from preparation to service. Ensures that supplies and stock are at sufficient levels to accommodate business demands during their shift. Provides guidance to the Apprentice Bartender as well as mixing and serving drinks to customers. Accounts for all stock and supplies used.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ordered drinks with proper portions and ingredients such as wine, liquor and related bar service to guests at assigned stations.
- Mix drinks according to prescribed recipes; keep station stocked with all liquor, glasses, and accessories necessary.
- Account for all beginning cash register bank, all cash, complimentary drinks, and charge receipts.
- Operate a cash register, ringing the proper amount into the register and giving the guest or server the correct change.
- Possess a keen sense of timing and be capable of discreetly speeding up or slowing down service as necessary.
- Resourcefully manage beverages, fruit, and supplies to maintain low beverage costs.
- Set up service items at the assigned bar.
- Inventory supplies at the bar at the beginning of the shift and requisition additional items as indicated by Bar standards.
- Clean any spillage at the bar throughout the shift.
- Take and serve cocktail orders.
- Accept payment for cocktails as required.
- Count down register drawers and complete summaries.
- Log stock used during the shift.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- 1 year prior bartending experience.
- Must have completed union apprenticeship program (possess union Pour Card).
- Knowledge of beverages, glassware, and garnishes.
- Effective communication in English, both verbal and written, in a professional manner.
- Neat and professional appearance.
- Ability to interact with customers, public, and co-workers.
- Ability to accurately count money and provide change.
- Schedule flexibility which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Nevada Food Handlers’ Certification.
- Alcohol Awareness Certification.
- Non-gaming Certification.
- Union Pour Card.
- Union Referral.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time.
- Ability to perform reaching and stooping motions repeatedly.
- Visual ability needed to accurately measure ingredients for mixing drinks.
- Fast-paced, high-volume environment involving constant public interaction.
- Requires standing, walking, and lifting a minimum of 20 lbs repeatedly.
- Shifts may vary based on business needs.
- Must be able to handle intoxicated guests in a professional manner.
- Must be able to tolerate secondary tobacco smoke.
