Barista - Starbucks - Full Time

About the Role

The Barista ensures Starbucks and JW Marriott service standards are met and surpassed by providing guests with prompt, quality coffee selection, purchase, and preparation. Guests will experience a friendly, upbeat, and clean atmosphere. The role involves adhering to all company, safety, and department policies while fostering teamwork and delivering excellent guest service. Baristas anticipate guest needs, build brand loyalty by living JW Marriott Core Values, and contribute to a positive guest experience.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience preferred
• Must be 18 years of age
• Valid Clark County Health Card required

Responsibilities

• Prepare and execute all menu items according to established standards and instructions from culinary leadership
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times
• Assist with daily requisitions, ensuring proper rotation and storage of supplies
• Restock dishes, silverware, and other essentials as needed
• Welcome and engage with every guest to deliver exceptional customer service
• Identify customer needs and make appropriate product recommendations to enhance guest experience and achieve sales goals
• Learn and consistently demonstrate the “Starbucks Experience” in all interactions
• Maintain equipment and service areas in a clean, appealing, and functional condition
• Comply with JW Marriott cash handling procedures and point-of-sale standards
• Complete “Initial Store Training” and achieve Barista certification with a score of 90% or higher
• Follow proper procedures for ringing guest checks and handling cash transactions accurately
• Perform all assigned side work duties according to established schedules
• Respond to reasonable management requests and support team efforts within role capabilities

Essential Job Functions

• Work is performed in a restaurant and other locations throughout the property
• Must tolerate varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but increases to loud on the casino floor
• Smoking is permitted in casino areas per Nevada state regulations
• Interact with management, coworkers, and guests; ability to verbally communicate effectively
• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, touch, climb, lift, and read for extended periods (5+ hours)
• Regularly and safely lift and move boxes, supplies, and materials weighing 50 lbs. or more
• Transport, push, pull, and maneuver items weighing up to 150 lbs.
• Work in a fast-paced, noisy, and sometimes limited-movement environment
• Maintain sanitation, food safety, and other food service environment requirements
• Requires eye/hand coordination and basic math skills to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols
• Ability to comply with policies, procedures, daily memorandums, chemical labels (SDS), and other instructions
