Barista - Hotel Santa Barbara

About the role

Geronimo Hospitality Group is a collection of award‑winning boutique hotels, restaurants and clubs where the status quo is challenged. The Hotel Santa Barbara is a charming, historic boutique hotel in downtown Santa Barbara, a half‑mile from the beach and Stearns Wharf and a block from the Paseo Nuevo outdoor shopping center. As a Barista you will be a key part of the team, ensuring every guest leaves with a lasting impression by providing great customer service, educating guests on the coffee and food menu, and maintaining a warm, friendly coffee house experience.

Responsibilities

• Learn and have complete knowledge and understanding of the coffee menu and food choices
• Educate customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink and food menu; answering questions
• Keep work area and customer area clear of cluttered dishes, glasses and garbage
• Obtain proper coffee knowledge to appropriately assist guests
• Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies
• Keep equipment running by following operating instructions; maintaining supplies; equipment cleanliness
• Leave a positive impression on customers to ensure return visits and potential word‑of‑mouth promotion

Requirements

• One year Barista experience (preferred)
• Basic math skills (able to add, subtract and count back change to customer)
• Legible handwriting
• Strong customer service and verbal communication skills
• U.S. Work Authorization (required)
