Barista/Fuquay-Varina

Responsibilities

• Embody La Farm values through action, example, and communication: Exceed Customer Expectations, Quality, Dignity, Community, Learning, Teaching, and Innovation.
• Ensure and exude world-class customer service and sales to internal and external customers, including greeting every customer with “bonjour” (hello).
• Engage verbally with each customer, demonstrate product knowledge, and use suggestive selling techniques.
• Follow the CARE acronym and greet customers within 15 seconds.
• Prepare specialty coffee drinks (including latte art) on demand in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating expertise in coffee, espresso, latte, teas, and other specialty drinks.
• Know types of coffee used and flavor notes to help sell and upsell.
• Demonstrate expertise in equipment and tools: machines, brewers, grinders, etc.
• Ensure proper orders are made efficiently to meet ticket time goals.
• Deliver coffee and food orders to customers, confirming orders for accuracy.
• Assist in pre-busing and busing tables throughout shift.
• Prepare syrups from scratch.
• Open, close, and maintain coffee station, ensuring fresh hot coffee, cold creams, condiments, and packaging are fully stocked, clean, and organized.
• Answer the phone to La Farm standards.
• Complete daily checklists and perform side work as necessary.
• Ensure overall unit safety and sanitation goals and policies are met, maintaining a grade “A” or better in health and sanitation inspections.
• Uphold company standards and policies for opening/closing.
• Ensure safe working conditions and comply with all laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Exceptional customer service skills and demonstrated sense of urgency to serve every customer.
• Experience with customer service and/or food service preferred.
• Passion for great coffee (must be able to drink coffee).
• Experience with a manual espresso machine.
• Ability to solve business-related problems quickly and efficiently.
• Great relationship-building skills and demonstrated positive demeanor as a team player.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
• Flexibility required: weekends and holidays, with two days off (not consecutive).
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
• Multi-lingual is a plus.

Physical Demands

• Ability to bend and lift 25 lbs.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
