About the role
The Counter Attendant is the primary guest point of contact for the counter. Counter Attendants ensure that excellent quality and superb service is enjoyed by all of our guests. The Barista is responsible for maintaining and operating the barista station up to Gjelina's Group standards. This includes delivering outstanding customer service, possessing a thorough knowledge of our coffee and tea offerings, and ensuring quality control across all site coffee and tea offerings.
Responsibilities
- Knowledge of all dishes on the menu, to be able to identify them and to know their ingredients
- Adhere to all health, safety, alcohol control and sanitation protocols
- Takes guests orders in Point of Sale - "POS"
- Always suggests product alternatives to enhance guest food experience
- Completes sales transactions in an accurate and timely manner
- Prepare espresso drinks to order
- Prepare drink orders in accordance with all recipes provided by Gjelina Management
- Work with BOH to expedite orders in an orderly and timely manner
- Organize, clean, and maintain all areas of the counter
- Prepare the floor at the opening and closing of each shift, stocking, cleaning, and preparing for service
- Prepare stations at the opening and closing of each shift; stocking, cleaning, and preparing for service
- Ensure all stations are equipped for service
- Absorb and respond to any menu/drinks queries with knowledgeable answers
- Deal with any service issues through your floor manager and communicate any unresolved issues to them at the end of the shift
- Maintain the station throughout the shift, keeping spaces clean and tidy
- Attend pre-shift meeting to find out the changes on the menu, 86s, and Chef's aesthetic for new dishes
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
- Operate espresso machines and other equipment to make beverages according to established recipes and quality standards
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar area, including restocking supplies and cleaning equipment
- Running Hot Beverages to guests throughout the restaurant
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested

Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years restaurant or related experience (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year barista experience
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to use all relevant items of equipment
- Understanding, knowledge, and ability to comply with safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures
- Ability to prioritize work activities, provide accurate information and assistance to any management or colleagues' request in a timely and courteous manner
- Ability to keep calm when faced with any unusual situations
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job
- Knows basic Math
- Able to take guest orders in Point of Sale - "POS"
- Able to take and follow directions
