The Barista is responsible for exceptional customer service at Holy Grounds locations which includes defined level of product knowledge, presentation and quality of product, speed of service, sales ability, and good customer relations skills. Responsible for operating Holy Grounds as an independent unit and assuming all the responsibilities with that role since a manager is not present at all times. This person will work with management and co-workers to instill and foster the value of the Villanova Mission Statement and the Dining Services Mission Statement. This person will focus on our Core Values: Safety and Sanitation, Friendly Courteous Service, Quality, Meticulous Attention to Detail, and Safety. All of our associates should improve our systems and overall operation.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service that is efficient, friendly and speedy to Holy Grounds customers; treats each customer as the highest priority, being mindful of customers who are waiting.
• Operates POS terminals and, where applicable, Grub Hub applications to receive orders.
• Actively shares coffee and tea knowledge while actively selling all products.
• Advises customers of new coffees, teas, or featured items of the week.
• Prepares all drinks according to Holy Grounds standards.
• Maintains the cleanliness and attractiveness of the Holy Ground kiosk by keeping counters and displays cleaned and fully stocked.
• Ensures all products are labeled correctly.
• Assists manager with scheduling of student associates.
• Responsible for enforcing the uniform standards of all student associates.
• Completes the tasks assigned at each shift, ensuring everything is ready for the next shift.
• Enforces and practices all safety and sanitation policies and procedures for Villanova Dining Services.
• Monitors customer needs and responds to any concerns or questions in a friendly and courteous manner, resolving issues immediately.
• Performs additional duties and assists with special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Interest in coffee required; will need to sample and test products for quality assurance.
• Cashiering experience of 1‑2 years.

Preferred Qualifications

• ServSafe certification preferred.
• Cash register knowledge preferred.

Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong customer service skills; dress and grooming appropriate for the Holy Grounds concept; able to handle numerous tasks at once.

Pay

$18.98 per hour, with shift differential for qualifying shifts.

Schedule

Full‑time, 12‑month position. Normal operating hours: Sunday – Thursday, 4:30 p.m. – 1:30 a.m.
