Barista

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Barista who can serve coffee and espresso beverages consistently according to recipes. You will provide quality customer service and demonstrate knowledge of coffee products, brew methods, equipment, and tea products. Your role involves serving all products with friendly, individualized attention toward each customer.

Responsibilities

• Warmly welcome and engage customers in sincere and friendly conversation.
• Respond to questions, orders, and concerns in a professional manner.
• Anticipate customer and store needs by evaluating the environment and customer cues.
• Facilitate easy dialogue about product offerings with customers.
• Actively participate in training sessions to advance your coffee education.
• Craft beverages that adhere to the company's quality standards.
• Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
• Proactively prevent negative customer service situations.
• Accurately ring sales orders into the POS system and provide change courteously.
• Restock retail shelves as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of the bar area, including steam wands, retail shelving, floors, windows, grinders, and vacuums; take out the trash.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience as a barista.
• Ability to serve coffee and espresso beverages consistently according to recipes.
• Skilled at latte art or willing to learn.
• Contagious energy that sets a positive example for other employees.
• Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high stress.
• Self-motivated, quick learner, and efficient multitasker.
• Punctual and consistent attendance.

Physical Requirements

• Stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift).
• Move around the café assisting staff and customers.
• Lift and move supplies, equipment, and boxes up to 50 pounds.
• Shift positions frequently to work all stations in the kitchen and front of the house.
• Reach items under counters and overhead shelves.
• Tolerate frequent exposure to cleaning solutions.

Tools & Environment

• Work with coffee brewers, espresso machines, and cash registers.
• Fast-paced indoor café setting.

Other Requirements

• Weekends required.
