About the role

Join a talented group of more than 90 Morrison Healthcare dietitians at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Virginia. This full‑time hybrid position is part of the Bariatric Surgery team at a large acute‑care/teaching hospital (675‑bed inpatient setting and 35+ outpatient clinics). Dietitians play an integral role on multidisciplinary teams, participate in research and quality‑improvement projects, host dietetic interns, and are supported in pursuing leadership and community‑service experiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre‑ and post‑surgery nutrition counseling to bariatric surgery patients.
• Collaborate with bariatric RDs, surgeons, a nurse practitioner, nurse coordinators, and psychologists.
• Develop and contribute to quality‑improvement projects within the clinic.
• Apply strong clinical skills, motivational interviewing, and the intuitive eating approach (highly preferred).
• Participate in research initiatives and support multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Host dietetic interns and mentor junior staff.
• Engage in leadership and community‑service opportunities as they arise.

Requirements

• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or CDR exam eligible.
• Licensed Dietitian (or willingness to obtain licensure) in the state of practice.
• Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration or eligible.
• Healthcare experience preferred, but new graduates with strong clinical training are encouraged to apply.
• Strong clinical skills; training in motivational interviewing and intuitive eating is highly preferred.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule (M‑F, 8 am‑5 pm).

Pay

Salary range: $60,000 – $90,000, based on experience.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm with a hybrid (in‑office/remote) option.
