About the role
Join a talented group of more than 90 Morrison Healthcare dietitians at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Virginia. At this level‑one trauma center, dietitians play an integral role on multidisciplinary teams in many specialty areas, both in the 675‑bed inpatient setting and in over 35 outpatient clinics. Registered dietitians participate in research and quality‑improvement projects, host dietetic interns, and are supported in pursuing leadership and community‑service experiences. Continuing education opportunities are plentiful from the accomplished nutrition team and the health system. This full‑time hybrid position will be part of the Bariatric Surgery team, working closely with an interdisciplinary team in a growing clinic to meet the needs of patients before and after bariatric surgery.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other Bariatric Surgery RDs, surgeons, nurse practitioners, nurse coordinators, and psychologists to provide patient care.
- Conduct pre‑surgery nutrition counseling and post‑surgery support for bariatric patients.
- Develop and contribute to quality‑improvement projects.
- Participate in research initiatives.
- Host and mentor dietetic interns.
- Apply clinical judgment while utilizing motivational interviewing and intuitive eating approaches.
- Engage in leadership and community‑service opportunities as supported.
Requirements
- Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or eligible to become registered.
- Licensed Dietitian (or willingness to obtain licensure) in the state of practice.

- Healthcare experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical training are encouraged to
