About the Role
The Barback is responsible for backing up the bartender by restocking products to ensure bartenders stay fully stocked during events while adhering to all policies and procedures regarding alcohol dispensing. This role pays an hourly rate of $19.00 and is tip eligible.
About The Venue
In 2024, The Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Cultural Campus introduced the Ensemble Arts Philly brand to improve clarity for the audience experience across physical spaces and online. This brand represents a variety of genres, including Broadway, comedy, theater, jazz, dance, and family presentations across three venues: the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, the Academy of Music, and the Miller Theater.
Responsibilities
- Stock products for the bar, including non-alcoholic beverages, alcoholic beverages, and icing wells.
- Sweep and mop the bar area.
- Move kegs in and out of keg coolers and tap kegs.
- Draft beer and pour wine for guest orders.
- Run supplies for bartenders, including backup fruit, napkins, cups, utensils, and stirrers.
- Ensure location equipment is operable and clean prior to the start of the event.
- Maintain cleanliness of the bar and surrounding areas using sanitation procedures, including mopping floors, cleaning and stacking floor mats, emptying and relining trash cans, and keeping closet areas clear of debris and clutter.
- Identify and report guests who are visibly intoxicated to bartenders.
- Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
- Demonstrate excellent attendance as per company standards.
Requirements
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume bar environment is preferred.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, event-driven environment.
- Strong communication skills with employees, co-workers, management, and guests to foster a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment.
- Possess a valid food handling certificate and alcohol service permit if required by state and federal regulations.
- Ability to perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) related to product inventory.
