Bar Server

About the role

Bar Server ensures guest satisfaction by promoting and providing beverage services all throughout the ship in a courteous and professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and mixes drinks
• Cleans assigned workstations
• Analyzes recipes and manuals as necessary
• Interacts with guests or fellow shipboard employees
• Provides beverage information
• Promotes special drinks and/or upsells to premium brands
• Suggests alternative drinks if the guest’s drink request is not available in current inventory

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 (two) years of beverage related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and customers.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, tips, proportions, percentages.
• Working knowledge of varying brands and quality of liquors and beers.
• Knowledge of varying brands and quality of wines.
• Knowledge of public health standards.
• Ability to up-sell and promote drinks and specials.

Qualifications

Excellent customer service skills; working knowledge of liquor, liquor set-ups, and cocktails; experience in a similar role; and completion of basic education or its equivalent.

Skills

Can speak English and any European/Mandarin language (such as Spanish, German, French, Italian, Russian, Dutch, Polish).
