A Banquet Server plays a critical role in delivering exceptional guest experiences by providing professional and efficient food and beverage service during events. Banquet Servers ensure that all guests feel welcomed and attended to, following event specifications and service standards. From the setup of banquet spaces to the seamless execution of meal service, Banquet Servers maintain an acute focus on detail and hospitality. They work collaboratively with kitchen and event staff to ensure the timely delivery of courses, adapt to guest needs in real-time, and uphold the ambiance and quality of the event. Beyond serving, Banquet Servers contribute to the overall success of events by maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the service, resetting spaces for subsequent events, and ensuring that all equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately.

The St. Charles Convention Center is the finest full-service convention center in the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area. Containing over 154,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, including 83,000 square feet of exhibit space, the SCCC is the perfect place for events up to 3,000 attendees. Located mere minutes away from St. Louis Lambert International Airport, the St. Charles Convention Center is surrounded by multiple hotels, Historic Main Street, and the Streets of St. Charles, offering versatility for your commute and experience.
Responsibilities
- Reads and understands banquet event orders.
- Provides fine-dining-level food and beverage service to guests for all events, consistent with standards of service.
- Initiates and maintains friendly and professional contact with guests, ensuring that all needs are anticipated and met.
- Sets up and maintains both food and beverage stations in various locations throughout the building consistent with standards of service.
- Maintains an inventory for both food and beverage stations.
- Maintains all event areas and front-of-house staging areas in a tidy and organized manner.
- Participates in both the setup and cleanup of food and beverage service items.
- Works independently during slower times.
- Performs safe work by helping to create a safe and clean work environment.
- Ensures that work is accurate and complete.
- Maintains a customer-focused, positive, and professional attitude.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent GED strongly preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted.
- 6 months to 1 year of work experience in events, banquets, or restaurants preferred.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects often.
- Ability to carry at least 8 entrees per tray.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and select holidays.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Must be punctual with consistent attendance.
- Must be able to respond to simple complaints or inquiries from customers.
Pay
This role will pay an hourly rate of $17.00 - $19.00.
