About the role

The Banquet Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients, assisting with food production, and supporting banquet and catering operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences. This position plays a critical role in maintaining food quality, consistency, sanitation, and efficiency in support of hotel events, meetings, weddings, and special functions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients according to recipes and production sheets, including cutting, chopping, slicing, peeling, marinating, and portioning.
  • Assist with the preparation of banquet menu items, buffets, plated meals, and special event functions.
  • Measure and mix ingredients in accordance with established recipes and chef specifications.
  • Ensure proper food quality, appearance, taste, and presentation standards are met.
  • Assist with banquet setup and food service preparation.
  • Maintain adequate levels of prepared food for scheduled events.
  • Help coordinate timely execution of banquet functions and catering orders.
  • Aid in the breakdown and storage of banquet food and supplies following service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous food preparation or kitchen experience preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Ability to follow recipes and production instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Hotel, banquet, catering, or high-volume kitchen experience preferred.
  • Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain certification as required by local regulations.
  • Experience working in a Hilton or full-service hotel environment preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet kitchen environments.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to safely operate kitchen equipment and utensils.
