About the Role
As a Banquet Houseperson at Sonesta International Hotels, you are responsible for the set-up and teardown of function rooms as stated on Banquet Event Orders (BEO). Responsibilities
- Obtain next day banquet orders from the banquet office.
- Set up function rooms according to diagrams or written instructions on banquet event orders.
- Set tables and place chairs.
- Lift and stack chairs for extended periods.
- Roll and position equipment.
- Work off-premises for catered functions, which involves carrying equipment.
- Shampoo carpets and chairs as needed.
- Build solid relationships with colleagues by treating them with respect and dignity.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including assisting in other areas of the hotel when needed.

Qualifications and Skills
- Track record of delivering exceptional guest or client experience.
- Strong communication skills, utilized for training, safety, and guest interactions.
- Experience using chair trucks, table and riser carts.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and computation of rates, ratios, percentages, and bar graphs.
- Ability to follow detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions.
- Ability to handle problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Education and Experience
No prior experience or training is required.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear.
- Occasionally required to use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to extreme heat.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
