Responsibilities

  • Check server and houseperson BEOs to ensure all information is accurate.
  • Verify room set-up matches BEO directions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and neatness of all public areas.
  • Communicate with group representatives and explain contact procedures during functions.
  • Relay all BEO changes to the catering office and affected departments.
  • Coordinate set-ups, changes, and time schedules with banquet staff for all functions.
  • Verify and adjust staffing levels for upcoming functions by adding or canceling staff as needed.
  • Serve as a banquet server when required, including setting up, greeting and serving guests, and breaking down the function.
  • Inspect banquet areas post-function to ensure equipment is returned and areas are clean.
  • Obtain client signatures on banquet checks, recap checks at the end of the day, and submit to Night Audit.
  • Coach and counsel associates to enhance performance, including administering corrective or disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Know and explain the menu for each function, including major ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Adhere to all company policies, safety, and security procedures.
  • Follow fire prevention, emergency procedures, and use protective equipment as required.
  • Report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, near-misses, or property damage to a supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per company standards.
  • Perform related duties as requested by a supervisor and assist other banquet personnel when needed.

Requirements

  • Two years of hotel banquet food/beverage service experience.
  • Current Food Handler Card.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
  • Knowledge of appropriate table settings, service ware, and various types of meeting room equipment and setups (e.g., round tables, schoolroom setups).
  • Ability to understand verbal English sufficient to comprehend job requests from supervisors and guests.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through crowded rooms continuously throughout the shift.
  • Lifting up to 30 pounds maximum.
  • Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or move goods on a hand cart/truck weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, and smiling.
