About the role

The Banquet Bartender is responsible for providing high-quality beverage service to guests during catered events. The bartender will work under the supervision of the Event Captain and ensure that all aspects of the bar service—from setup to breakdown—are performed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with the event's requirements. A professional and courteous demeanor is expected at all times, as well as strict adherence to responsible alcohol service guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Event Preparation and Setup: Coordinate with the Booking Manager to receive event assignments, checking emails regularly for any updates or changes. Arrive at events on time and dressed in the appropriate attire as specified for the event (e.g., tuxedo, formal wear, or black attire). Bring the necessary tools for bar service, including a wine opener, shaker, ice scoop, knife, and matches. Set up the bar area according to the Event Captain’s instructions, ensuring that all necessary equipment, beverages, ice, trash bags, and garnishes are available and organized.
  • Service Responsibilities: Ensure the bar is fully stocked with alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages before the event begins. Notify the Event Captain immediately if any items are missing. If a specialty drink is required, consult with the Event Captain to obtain the correct recipe and preparation instructions. Serve beverages efficiently and professionally, adhering to event specifications and guest preferences. Ensure all alcoholic beverages are served only to guests aged 21 and over by checking identification when necessary. Follow responsible alcohol service guidelines as outlined in Tip Certification training.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional attitude with guests and the event team at all times. Ensure the bar remains open and operational until the Event Captain approves its closure.
  • Event Breakdown and Cleanup: After the event, clean and break down the bar area in an orderly and quiet manner. Ensure that all equipment is properly stored, trash is disposed of, and the area is free of spills. Follow procedures for handling leftover alcohol, including sorting chilled and unchilled bottles and determining whether the items should be returned to the catering facility. Ensure that all ice is disposed of correctly and that the bar area is left in a clean, safe condition.

  • Punctuality and reliability are essential.
