Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include school, team, and classroom duties. School responsibilities include arriving at school 15 minutes before carpool, participating in school-wide and individual professional development, attending staff meetings, and performing necessary duties. Team responsibilities include working as part of an interdisciplinary team, attending grade level meetings, and addressing student issues. Classroom responsibilities include creating lesson plans, maintaining a productive learning environment, consistently enforcing Uplift Education's core mission and values, and providing meaningful assessments.

• Arrives at school 15 minutes before carpool and is available for assigned duties or set-up (7:15 am)
• Stays at school until time designated by School Director/Managing Director or as business necessitates
• Participates in school-wide and individual professional development, including the 2-3 week summer session
• Attends and participates in all staff meetings
• Performs necessary duties including but not limited to bus, morning, lunch, and afternoon duties
• Chaperones field lessons and field trips
• Abides by all state and federal mandates in reporting sexual or physical abuse and neglect
• Upholds the code of conduct and all school policies
• Maintains and supports a positive professional school culture
• Models behavior within the code of conduct
• Supports and follows directives of campus administrators
• Provides clerical, instructional, and behavioral support for scholars as needed
• Enrolled in and complete all Texas Reading Academies Training

Qualifications

The qualifications for this role include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, and a valid Texas Teacher Certification or enrollment in an Uplift designated certification course. A Master's degree is preferred but not required. Previous teaching experience is a plus, and bilingual skills in Spanish are also a plus.

Skills

The required skills for this role include communication skills, bilingual skills, and technology skills. The ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and public agencies is necessary, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also required.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

The physical demands of this role include maintaining emotional control under stress, and occasional prolonged and irregular hours. The employee must be able to sit and talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, and stand, walk, and use stairs. The employee must also be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Pay

The new teacher starting salary is $63,000.
