About the Role
The Band Director will be a Christian educator who directs and manages the overall Band Program in alignment with Landmark Christian School’s Core Values, Vision, and Mission Statement.
Responsibilities
- Teach 6th Grade, 7th/8th Grade, and High School Band classes, and oversee the War Eagle Drumline.
- Prepare weekly lesson plans including instructional objectives, activities, Biblical integration, assessments, and resources, incorporating classroom technology.
- Regularly review and update department and course curriculum guides to ensure proper instructional priorities and pacing.
- Prepare students for participation in All-State Band, District Honors, and other GMEA and ACSI instrumental events.
- Demonstrate spiritual maturity, instructional ability, and leadership to inspire student learning and spiritual development.
- Manage classroom discipline and procedures to foster a positive learning environment, including effective parent communication.
- Collaborate as an active team member within the Arts Department to support program health and growth.
- Organize band participation in extracurricular events such as concerts, LGPE, festivals, competitions, football games, pep rallies, and community outreach.
- Oversee the band budget and inventory, including the music library and maintenance of all band equipment.
- Maintain open communication with parents and students, and uphold professional relationships with colleagues and administrators.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid teaching certificate preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of instrumental music program operations.
- Ability to manage budget and personnel.
- Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
- Three years of teaching and band directing experience preferred.
