About the role

Employees must be able to safely and accurately operate a forklift and baler machine to pick up and recycle waste.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate forklift to pick up waste pallets and carts.
  • Identify waste ticket placed on units by supervisor and weigh unit on scale.
  • Accurately input weight on waste ticket and baler summary sheet.
  • Place waste safely into the baler.
  • Replace bale wire on machine, as needed.
  • Troubleshoot baler issues immediately.
  • Maintain thorough and proper housekeeping standards, with a focus on the baler room.
  • Weigh recycled bale(s) as they come out of the baler, then load onto trailer.
  • Reconcile all work before turning it in to supervisor.
  • Follow all company policies, safety guidelines, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Pratt Safety and OSHA.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 3 years of forklift experience required.
  • Previous Baler Operator experience preferred.
  • Professional attitude and conduct toward co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
  • Strong multi-tasking, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • High degree of safety awareness and discipline.
  • Ability to add, subtract, and multiply.
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work extended hours, nights, and weekends as needed.
  • Willingness to work in varying temperatures and travel if required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties.
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of the business and exceed customer expectations.
  • Must successfully complete a drug screen and background check.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to work a full shift, arrive on time, and work overtime as needed.
