About the role
Employees must be able to safely and accurately operate a forklift and baler machine to pick up and recycle waste.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklift to pick up waste pallets and carts.
- Identify waste ticket placed on units by supervisor and weigh unit on scale.
- Accurately input weight on waste ticket and baler summary sheet.
- Place waste safely into the baler.
- Replace bale wire on machine, as needed.
- Troubleshoot baler issues immediately.
- Maintain thorough and proper housekeeping standards, with a focus on the baler room.
- Weigh recycled bale(s) as they come out of the baler, then load onto trailer.
- Reconcile all work before turning it in to supervisor.
- Follow all company policies, safety guidelines, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Pratt Safety and OSHA.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 3 years of forklift experience required.
- Previous Baler Operator experience preferred.
- Professional attitude and conduct toward co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
- Strong multi-tasking, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- High degree of safety awareness and discipline.
- Ability to add, subtract, and multiply.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail.
- Ability to work extended hours, nights, and weekends as needed.
- Willingness to work in varying temperatures and travel if required.
- Ability to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties.
- Flexibility to meet the needs of the business and exceed customer expectations.
- Must successfully complete a drug screen and background check.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to work a full shift, arrive on time, and work overtime as needed.
