About the role
International Paper is seeking a Baler Operator for its facility at 128 Crews Drive, Columbia, SC 29210.
Pay
Starting rate: $21.37 per hour.
Schedule
Full-time hourly; 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM) and 3rd shift (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM). Ability to work any shift and overtime as needed.
Responsibilities
- Complete pre-start loader maintenance inspection report
- Feed paper to baler conveyor (all facets of loading the baler)
- Operate balers according to brand specifications
- Load the baler utilizing forklift
- Record grade, percentage of waste in compactor dumped material
- Monitor paper feed line
- Monitor wire condition and feed
- Monitor bales for wiring, grade, quality and weight
- Record maintenance activity on equipment
- Record baler downtime
- Assist with daily, weekly, monthly PMs for baler and feed conveyors
- Operate shredder and follow all NAID requirements for document destruction
- Ensure driveway/loading dock is free of material
- Keep paper/plastic from accumulating around property fence line
- Prevent loose paper from accumulating around baler
- Remove material build-up
- Assist with pushing material into baler as needed
- Communicate with Supervisor – maintenance issues, downtime, production issues
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment according to plant housekeeping standards
- Attend and participate in plant safety and townhall meetings
- Manage controllable costs through proper equipment, tool and consumable usage
- Report any safety or maintenance
