Bakery Team Leader
About the role
Our Bakery Team Leader manages the entire bakery team and keeps it running like a well-oiled machine. You'll guide Team Members and guests in designing the best birthday cakes and arranging the yummiest platters for their parties. Leaders are accountable for the operating performance of the department at all times, promoting professionalism, mutual respect, inclusion, diversity, and dignity. You will coach Team Members regularly with timely feedback, identify development opportunities, and foster success.
Responsibilities
- Interview, select, and train Team Members.
- Direct and appraise Team Members’ productivity and efficiency to recommend promotions or status changes.
- Handle Team Member issues, including complaints and discipline.
- Plan, distribute, and assign work among Team Members.
- Ensure the safety and security of Team Members and the store.
- Manage the department budget and inventory.
- Monitor or implement compliance measures.
- Direct, oversee, and evaluate training to reduce turnover, promote efficiency, and control labor costs.
- Provide motivational leadership, setting an exemplary example and fostering inclusion and diversity.
- Identify team strengths and opportunities, scheduling strategically to develop future leaders.
- Maintain safety as the top priority for Team Members, guests, and products.
- Inspire the team and guests with a passion for food and exceptional service.
- Set and achieve aggressive sales and profit goals while managing shrink.
- Establish ongoing communication with the team to ensure preparedness and excellence.
- Collaborate with the merchandising team to properly communicate promotions.
- Make innovative plans to improve business performance.
- Review and analyze financial, line-of-business, and historical reports to enhance sales, profits, and labor controls.
- Oversee period inventories for accuracy and monitor weekly inventory and shrink fluctuations.
Requirements
- Retail work experience or Store Leader recommendation.
- Retail leadership or supervisory experience (desired).
- Successful performance as a Peer Trainer or similar role (desired).
- Demonstrated product knowledge relevant to the department.
- Satisfactory performance and discipline record.
- High school diploma or equivalent (desired).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- At least 18 years of age.
Certification or licensing requirements vary by department.

Pay
The hiring range for this position is $20.25–$23.625 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, education, and location.
