About the role

The Bakery Meal Plant Material Handler position is available at Smithfield, a company dedicated to sustainable food production. This role involves operating powered industrial vehicles and equipment to transport, load, and unload materials in the bakery meal production process.

Responsibilities

• Follows standard operating instructions and procedures.
• Operates powered industrial vehicles in all areas.
• Regulates blending of materials as instructed to ensure product consistency and moisture.
• Aids with inventory management.
• Performs assigned housekeeping duties.
• Spot trailers for unloading.
• Unloads both bulk and palletized trailers.
• Ensures compliance with the Environmental Management System Policy.
• Operates equipment safely to protect company assets and reduce risks to other workers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to work with and around bakery waste products containing allergens.
• Read and understand safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Willingness to work an average of 50-hour weeks, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Prior experience operating heavy equipment, forklifts, tractors, or other powered industrial vehicles.
• Ability to acquire and maintain necessary certifications.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Qualifications

Benefits

Smithfield offers competitive compensation, including a starting hourly rate of $17.25, plus a Night Shift Premium of $1.00 per hour. Additional benefits may include health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Schedule
