About the role

Under the direction of the Logistics Supervisor or Department Supervisor, the Material Handler maintains distribution of materials between the production floor and inventory, including loading and unloading, delivering production materials and supplies, staging finished product in designated inventory locations, and general housekeeping in accordance with Pregis policies and procedures.

Classification: Full-Time-Hourly | Reports To: Shift Supervisor

Responsibilities

  • Safely drive a forklift to stage material, load and unload trucks, and transfer material within the plant and between departments as needed.
  • Keep safety at the forefront of the team’s thinking and approach to work; communicate and ensure all safety procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, well-organized, FIFO (first in, first out) controlled warehouse per Pregis Best Practice.
  • Maintain inventory by identifying and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory.
  • Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, and securing product in the correct location.
  • Be a reliable team member, always identifying and professionally communicating ways to improve the work environment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of sit-down forklift experience.
  • 1+ years of inventory control experience.
  • Experience with Inventory Control/Warehouse Management software (e.g., SAP) is a plus.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

Environment

  • Exposure to moving equipment.
  • Inside work with heat potentially exceeding 90°F and humidity exceeding 80%.
  • Noise may exceed 85dB.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.

Physical Characteristics

  • Frequent standing, stooping, and sitting.
  • Occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling.

Schedule

7 PM – 7 AM based on a 2-2-3 schedule (overtime as needed based on business needs).
