Bakery Manager

About the role

The Bakery Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market is responsible for overseeing the bakery department, ensuring product quality, managing budgets, and maintaining company standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily baking, production, and display of bakery products
• Evaluate department conditions and operations to improve practices and procedures
• Ensure safety, proper food handling, sanitation, and productivity standards are met
• Execute rotation of merchandise and building of displays
• Plan and order according to company standards to maximize sales and gross profit
• Engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and development discussions
• Recruit, hire, and make promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager
• Exercise independent judgment to address team member concerns and take corrective actions when needed
• Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency
• Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members
• Lead a team that collaborates to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest experience for customers
• Serve as a Key Carrier for the store or act as a Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age with a minimum of 2 years' retail grocery experience
• Dependable and reliable with the ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude towards team members and customers
• Good communication skills and ability to give and take direction in a team environment
• Able to answer phones and take special orders
• Able to perform general housekeeping tasks in the department, including cleaning and sanitizing work areas
• Able to operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed
• Able to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift
• Able to vertically transfer trays up to 5 lbs., from 7" to 64" for up to 10 hours, and vertically/horizontally transfer items up to 40 lbs., from 5" to 36", for a distance up to 36 feet for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance
• Possess a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals

Pay

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $29.15 / hour. Sprouts Farmers Market determines pay based on applicable experience and qualifications of the applicant.

Schedule

This role requires flexible scheduling including nights, weekends, and holidays.
