Job Description

To provide guests with an outstanding experience through exceptional service while assisting the manager in reaching the sales goals and minimizing shrinkage. Teammates will reach these goals through quality-prepared food and great guest service.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Consistently demonstrate the Woods Supermarket D&E service and Hospitality 4
• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer experience with primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate customer service, to create a positive shopping experience.
• To be courteous and helpful to other teammates
• Follows all technical manuals for processing of products, including label placement and packaging.
• Ensure that receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise is done in accordance with company and vendor guidelines. Maintain a complete understanding of these policies.
• Ensures the proper sanitation of department, equipment, food handling, and preparation area are followed in accordance with company policies.
• Report or correct all unsafe conditions that could cause teammate or guest accidents.
• Report all teammate and guest accidents in accordance with established company policy to the manager on duty.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Updating displays, cases, and other customer-facing areas to ensure new items and promotions are showcased.
• Prep, store, rotate and stock merchandise.
• To perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by managers, which may include: substituting for absent teammates and performing any additional tasks necessary to provide products and services to guests during peak periods of business.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

Grocery store setting. Inside work with variations in heat/cold/dust/humidity caused by the opening of store entrance doors. Some outside work may be required.

Job Qualifications

• You must be 18 years of age or older to be employed for this role at Woods Supermarket
• Able to work both independently and within a team environment
• Able to provide and lead others to provide prompt and courteous guest service
• Able to develop rapport, trust, and open communication that enhances the growth and job performance of store teammates
• Able to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
• Able to establish goals, guide teammate performance to ensure the quality and completion of work assignments
• Able to evaluate and drive performance of self and others
• Able to understand and apply management principles concerning budgeting, personnel costs, and expenses
• Able to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately
• Able to safely and properly operate equipment, including electric/manual hand jack, floor scrubber, and cardboard baler and perform general cleaning duties to company standards
• Able to stay organized and multi-task in a professional and efficient manner, following instructions and giving attention to detail
• Meets any state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages

Education and Experience

A combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge. Prior food handling experience preferred

• Will be required to safely handle and operate the following: Case cutter, utility knife, forklift (with proper certification), pallet jack, compact bale, slicer, oven, fryer, knives, mixers

Employment

This position will be required to regularly perform the above motions “frequently” and “occasionally” under the strength level highlighted on the positions job description/physical capacity release form.

Teammates Age 18 and Older Who Work in Food Prep Areas

• Will be required to safely handle and operate the following: Slicer, Oven, Fryer, Knives, Mixers
