About the Role
A Bakery/Deli Clerk ensures a positive first impression, determines customer needs, delivers real solutions, and adds value by supervising the store to leave customers fully satisfied.
Responsibilities
- Support bakery/deli department operations, including department readiness, staffing, supervision, price maintenance, policies and procedures, inventory preparation, financial goals, cleanliness, and safe equipment use.
- Manage replenishment and inventory processes: ordering, receiving, invoicing, back stock, reclamation, returns, damages, reworks, supply use, and inventory preparation.
- Maintain merchandising and sales floor standards: stocking, rotation, signing, displays, sampling, and department zoning.
- Support fresh food preparation and production: uphold food safety standards, meet production requirements, maintain cool standards, and service counters.
- Solve problems using critical thinking and logic to address issues effectively.
- Prioritize safety and quality, ensuring high standards for products and services while following safety procedures.
- Build relationships by fostering connections, treating others fairly, and empathizing with their perspectives.
- Demonstrate conscientiousness through responsible behavior, dependability, and adherence to policies, including attendance, dress code, and safety.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by removing barriers and following SMILE Program guidelines.
- Uphold integrity and professionalism, holding yourself accountable with a "no excuses" approach.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred; no previous work experience required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Adaptable to shifting priorities and rapid change.
- Ability to interpret, understand, and follow instructions.
- Lift, move, and place merchandise and supplies up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Frequent reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, crouching, and twisting; occasional squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
- Continuous repetitive hand and arm motions (e.g., grasping, gripping, turning).
- Stand and/or walk continuously throughout the shift.
- Visually locate merchandise and verify information, including small print.
- May be exposed to weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, ice, wind), indoor variations in temperature, dust, humidity, cleaning solvents, and chemicals.
- May be exposed to allergens such as latex, eggs, nuts, soy, and wheat.
