Bakery Clerk

About the Role

To prepare, bake, and display bakery products in a careful, clean, neat, and expedient manner while ensuring all products are fresh, rotated, and well-stocked for customers. Maintain excellent customer service and adhere to company standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous attention to customers’ needs at the service counter.
• Commit to the “Golden Rule” and work with other associates to build a strong bakery team.
• Achieve high associate morale by working in a style that is Respectful, Supportive, and Totally Team Oriented (RSTO).
• Greet, assist, and thank customers in a prompt, courteous, and friendly manner, offering product suggestions.
• Process merchandise according to production guidelines and follow established sanitation standards.
• Prepare and wrap bakery-related products.
• Stock display cases, rotate bakery ingredients or merchandise in accordance with company policy and product code dates (first in, first out).
• Write on cakes and prepare products to meet customer specifications.
• Receive and unload bakery products, storing them in designated areas.
• Practice the “Cleaner’s Creed” and proper sanitation procedures.
• Monitor and maintain the cooler, freezer, equipment, and work area to company sanitation standards.
• Keep work area swept clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards; report hazards to management.
• Operate and clean bakery equipment and tools.
• Restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and maintain low supply costs.
• Promote items on the public address system.
• Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized markdowns, or property defacement.
• Complete onboarding/e-learnings and checklist within 30 days of hire/entering the department.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be able to work as a team member and interact positively with customers.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English, with the ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to work a schedule based on the business needs of the store location.
• Authorized to work within the U.S.

• Occasionally (1-33%): Sitting, pulling and pushing up to 250 lbs, climbing up to 8 feet, kneeling, and crouching.
• Frequently (34-66%): Carrying and lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, balancing, stooping, and reaching at waist or overhead.
• Continuously (67-100%): Standing and walking on tile or concrete floors, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, seeing, smelling, and hearing.

• Fryer, ordering equipment, slicer, case cutter, ovens, proofer, bread slicer, kitchen utensils, electronic scales, mixer, shrink film wrapper, roller racks, unicarts, double deckers, skids, baler, pricing gun, trash compactor, water hose, intercom system, sink, cake machine, cooler, freezer, and approved cleaning supplies and equipment.

Pay

The hiring range for this position is $15.00 - $17.90 per hour. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to education, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
