Bakery Associate

About the Role

This role is responsible for working independently to prepare, fry, package, display, and stock Bakery products while contributing to the financial success of the store. You will ensure compliance with company guidelines for guest experience, safety, and food safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and produce Bakery products according to the Production Planner.
• Package and label Bakery products per program plan.
• Merchandise Bakery products following the Flight plan and merchandising expectations.
• Stock the backroom with Bakery products, ensuring proper rotation and dating of cases/buckets.
• Notify the Bakery Manager if products or supplies need to be ordered.
• Collaborate with other departments and stores to drive growth in SpartanNash Retail stores.
• Perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Communicate tasks, recipes, weights, measures, and cleaning steps to other associates.
• Adhere to all PPE, safety, and food safety guidelines.
• Follow Guest Experience Guidelines.
• May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of retail or related experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Detail-oriented.

Physical Requirements

• May be required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Must stand and walk for extended periods, with frequent bending, stooping, twisting, and turning.
• Works in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
• Travel requirements vary by assignment.
